This 6" B/C dayan features a refurbished red sheesham shell crafted by respected tabla maker Somnath Kakade and fitted with an Iqbal skin. The seasoned shell delivers a warm, mature tonal character with clear articulation, balanced resonance, and excellent responsiveness across a variety of playing styles. Well suited for classical accompaniment, bhajans, kirtan, and general performance use, this dayan retains the character of a well-aged handcrafted instrument while benefiting from a refreshed setup. Minor cosmetic blemishes are present from previous use and refurbishment, and a barely noticeable slight vibration can be heard on certain open notes. These minor characteristics have minimal impact on the instrument's overall tone, tuning stability, or playability. A distinctive Kakade dayan offering seasoned wood character, respected craftsmanship, and excellent value.
